Friends Eduardo Ourivio and Mario Chady launch Guilhermina Café restaurant in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Spoleto concept starts to be developed (the original idea was “quality meals in food courts”) .
Launch of “Estação Ipanema”, a gastronomic and cultural center, resembling a food court. Spoleto was born as a small 130 ft² operation. From the start, the Spoleto concept was designed to be scalable (franchising) and easily operated.
Opening of the first franchised Spoleto Restaurant, at Tijuca Shopping Mall, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (290 ft²).
Opening of the first two Spoleto stores in Mexico. Yet, store number 110 was inaugurated in Brazil.
Opening of the third Spoleto store in Mexico, and 131 stores in Brazil.
Opening of the first two Spoleto stores in Spain, opening of the sixth store in Mexico, and signature of store number 172 in Brazil.
200 stores opened in Brazil, and our goal is to finish 2008 with 214 stores. 8 stores in Mexico, and a 10 store goal to the end of the year.
